Aya Metwalli (b. 1988) is an Egyptian singer, songwriter and composer currently based in Beirut. She draws her inspiration from siren songs and silence. Experimenting with song, dance and theater, she is constantly in search of the most beautiful equation in performance. From writing sad ballads on an acoustic guitar to turning her voice into a multi-layered monstrosity of raw temperament through vocal processing, she tends to favor the melancholic and the choleric. At present, she is brewing a debut LP album that is expected to be born around fall this year.
